The Oak Bay Tennis Club was established in 1911. In addtion to our clubhouse,we have three doubles courts , one singles court and a practice court.
In 2013 the clubhouse was renovated and the courts were resurfaced and new nets installed. Last year the hedges were trimmed, hand rails installed and the clubhouse exterior and fences were painted.
We are pleased to announce that Joao Pereira is once again the club's new tennis professional for 2016. Joao possesses Tennis Canada certification as a coach, along with 25 years experience as a tennis pro in both Europe and Canada. He is on hand from the beginning of May to the end of September. He supervises the 4.0 sign-ins on Sunday afternoons from 3:00 - 5.00 pm. The sign-up is on this website. He supervises the Wednesday evening 3.5 drop-in from 5.00-6:30 pm. He provides group lessons on Tuesday and Sunday evenings . Private lessons with Joao are available at times that courts are not busy. Joao also supervises the junior development program and junior sessions ( see below ) as well as the two tournaments held this year.
The Club offers a junior development program, which is provided by our tennis professional between 4:00pm and 7:00pm every Monday from the beginning of May to the end of June 30.
After June 30th, the Club allocates court time to juniors every Monday until the end of September, from 4.00pm to 6.00pm . Our club professional is on the courts to organise practice and play and encourage junior members to come out .
Presently there are 430 adult members and 100 junior members. We have a waiting list of over 300 adults and 100 juniors. The club will not be taking any further names for the adult waiting list until the number on the waiting list drops to 300. This will be no earlier than March 2017.
